Welcome to the Media Center!

The Windom Media Center is a combination of library, computer lab, classroom, book collection and staff resource center. It is located on the lower level of the building and can be accessed from the first floor hallway. All classes High Five through 5th grade come to Media every four days. Media classes provide information literacy instruction to students that will allow them to become critical thinkers and successful 21st century learners. Student goals are:

I am a Library User,

I am a Reader,

I am a Researcher,

I am a Communicator and

I am a Responsible Digital Citizen.

Library Book Procedures:

On their scheduled media day students check out books to read at home or at school, and should return them on their next scheduled media day. Students must return their currently checked out books before they are able to check out more books.  If students are not finished reading a book it may be renewed.

Overdue notices are given to classroom teachers to be sent home with students.  Please help your student look for their overdue book whenever they receive a notice. If a book cannot be found we ask families to contribute to the cost of replacing the book.

Meet the Media Specialist

My name is Sarah Rose.  I love to teach, read, and write and I am lucky to be able to do all three here at Windom.  I graduated from the University of Minnesota with an undergraduate  and a graduate degree in Elementary Education.  I have been a classroom teacher  for many years-- kindergarten, first, third and fifth grades.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I look forward to meeting you in the media center.

Please feel free to visit the Windom Media Center or to contact me  with questions, comments or concerns.  Volunteers are always welcome to help shelve or check out books to students. I will show you what to do when you come!. Please check in at the office first.
